Choosing the Right Grease Gun

Choosing the Right Grease Gun

When choosing a grease gun, there are a few things to consider. What type of machinery are you lubricating and how much grease do you need to apply. Some of the most common and most popular types of grease guns lever-action, pistol-action, air-operated, and battery-operated options.

Manual operated grease guns such as lever-action and pistol-action grease guns are the preferred choice for low-volume dispensing. The lever-action grease gun will typically deliver more grease per stroke than a pistol-action grease gun. However, a lever-action grease gun will require two hands to operate where a pistol-action grease gun will require only one hand.

Battery-operated and air-operated grease guns work well where large volumes of grease are required and help reduce hand fatigue of the operator. These types of grease guns can often delivery more grease quicker than hand operated models but can have drawbacks for applications that require precise control of the amount of grease being dispensed.
